Approach

Dr. Gorritz utilizes a variety of diverse approaches to counseling, including person centered therapy, expressive arts, relational/cultural counseling, compassion focused therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, as well as social justice-oriented frameworks, which simply allow Dr. Gorritz to honoryour personal narratives, experiences, and stories as someone whoholds marginalized identities.
Dr. Gorritz specializes in working with the LGBTQIA+ community, as well as diverse lived experiences across race, gender, and sexual orientation. Dr. Gorritz addresses multiple presenting concerns including, but not limited to, depression, anxiety, trauma, substance use, and racial stress.

Experience

A licensed mental health counselor, Dr. Frank Gorritz holds almost a decade of clinical experience in working with various populations, including adults (both younger and older), children, adolescents, families, couples, and relationships.

Education & Certifications

Dr. Frank Gorritz received his Ph.D. in counselor education with a cognate in expressive arts in counseling from theUniversity of Georgia, along with certificates in diversity, equity,and inclusion and in interdisciplinary qualitative studies.

Dr. Gorritz, previous president of SAIGE-FL for the LGBTQIA+ community, also serves on multiple public policy and legislation committees including the American Counseling Association's Public Policy and Legislation Committee. His clinical experiences include being a clinic coordinator and therapist across outpatient psychiatric settings,community mental health settings, and private practice.

He has presented nationally on topics including affirmative counseling care to queer and transgender communities of color, providing multicultural supervision, utilizing diverse approaches to counseling, and addressing and disrupting racism in counselor education. He has
received the Counselors for Social Justice 'Ohana Award in 2022, the
Humanistic Dissertation Award in 2023, SAIGE's National "Making It
Happen" Award in 2024, and S.K. Butler's Transformative Impact Award
from the American Counseling Association in 2025 for his dedication to
social justice across communities in counseling, research, and
advocacy.
