Art Therapist & Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern
Monika graduated from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods-College with her masters in Art Therapy and Mental Health Counseling in 2016, and obtained her Provisional Art Therapy Registration with the Art Therapy Credentials Board in May of 2017. She graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2009 from Boston University with a BFA in painting and minor in printmaking. Originally born in Torun, Poland, Monika is bi-lingual in Polish and English. She is the co-owner, co-founder and artist of a local performance fishing apparel company called The Reel Chase and a painting instructor at The Painted Conch in Cape Coral. For the past 4 years she has worked at De LaSalle Academy of Fort Myers as a teacher and counseling intern with special needs children K-12. She specializes in working with children and adolescents with Autism, ADHD/ADD, anxiety, depression, and grief as well as substance use in adults. She employs a client centered approach utilizing Constructivist, Cognitive-Behavioral, and Dialectical-Behavioral theoretical platforms. Monika has been partnering with the Alliance for the Arts & The Family Initiativefor ArtPlay. An art class designed for children with autism spectrum disorders. The classes are Thursdays from 4:30 -6pm. Three Summer sessions available and open for registration. The program is held at the Alliance for the Arts and costs $10 per class, which includes the supplies. Pre-registration is required. See flyer below:
